Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in strength within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group access places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.

Fans can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
